Trail Information:
The Cross Peak Trail is a scenic 2.5-3 mile hike on Forest Service land in the mountains behind Caughlin Ranch. Once you reach the beginning of the trail, you will be able to see Cross Peak, which is located on top of a volcanic rock peak and features a large iron cross surrounded by an outcropping of rocks. At the summit, the trail offers a spectacular view of Reno and Verdi. Along with the iron cross at the peak, there is a box containing a notebook where you can write about your awe-inspiring experience. Sitting on the eastern edge of the Mount Rose Wilderness, Cross Peak rises just over the neighborhoods of western Reno. Because of it’s accessibility, Cross Peak is an excellent after-work hike!
